Challenge: I needed a way to create custom playlists of coding exercises to share with the students of a summer coding camp I would soon teach. Looking for solutions in Khan Academy’s own forums, I found dozens of career-teachers requesting this same feature for 3 years - a way to make custom KA “missions.”

Solution: Already aware of the Khan Academy API, I set out to design a stand-alone web app for playlisting KA exercises. I documented real user comments, created user personas, user scenarios and then began to wireframe and prototype. I even bought a URL. Lo and behold, KA quietly launched their own solution recently. While my own proposal is similar to KA’s in many ways, my own UX design successfully anticipated user needs and included a few extra features that KA users are now still asking for in the forums.
